description In Cashinahua, agency presents interesting morphosyntactic processes, especially in causative constructions. These are characterised by three causative operators, ‑ma, ‑{a}n, ‑man, the semantic content of which presents a dimension that is broader than that of a simple relationship between a causer and an affected executant. These operators translate various semantic parameters such as action control, intentionality, permissiveness, connivence, advantage and annoyance. Discourse on the relationship between yuxin-entities of the dead and those of the living provides an opportunity to examine the semantic content of these operators, as well as the intrinsic agency of these yuxin-entities on human-beings, especially on the bedu yuxin, the individual’s immortal life principle. This agency is expressed through actions that these entities carry out through energies they manifest, such as the muka and the pae. It is worth noting that these entities, especially those of the dead, are rarely patientive as humans can be.
