Summary: | Italian “immigration literature” is a new literary genre witch emerged in the 1990s.The stories narrated by the migrants, in its early years, talk about men and women whostarted to live a different life in a different country with or without their own will. Through these writings we discover an unprecedented face of immigration, which prevail difficult situations, nostalgia and hope.Therefor we shall see a different side of Italy and Italian people written by immigrants who are not only concerned about the immigration’s meaning but its effect on their world view.In factimmigration motivates them to create literature and write about their homeland and difficulties of returning to her, whilst they struggle in a cultural limbo.In this article we analyze the core theme which used by writers of this genre, namely the idea of uprooting and autobiographical memory, present in the anthology Black Sheep stories. |
