description How did the spatial distribution of ZIKV infection behave in the Metropolitan Region of Maceió (RMM)? This article aims to analyze the spatial distribution of ZIKV cases in the RMM from 2016 to 2017. This is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional ecological design. The studied population consists of the reported cases of ZIKV. The unit of analysis is the notification of cases of ZIKV infection in the RMM Region, with its population, social and economic indicators derived from the aggregation of information from the census tracts of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). Some environmental health indicators were also considered: presence of sanitary sewage; collection of waste and waste deposited in urban areas. For the Macro-Urban Zone that presented the highest number of cases of infection by ZIKV, the spatial distribution was performed according to its administrative regions. Of a total of 3474 cases in the municipality of Maceió, 165 were recorded as ignored / white, which highlights the problem of underreporting in the territory, which may mask the data and prevent the actions being directed. The three neighborhoods that presented the most cases of ZIKV infection were the neighborhoods Tabuleiro dos Martins, Clima Bom, Jacintinho, districts that present characteristics in common, such as population distribution, are populous neighborhoods with a population of over 36,000 inhabitants, income and water supply and sewage services promote vector reproduction.
