description | With the authoritarian outcomes of the two countries in the 1930s Portugal and Spain's historical symmetry has never been so long or so narrow. Installed at the same time, both survived the worldwide defeat of fascism and the synchrony lengthened until its fall. The Salazarismo consolidated itself by supporting Franco in the Civil War and with the triumph of these, and the Francoism owed part of its victory to the Portuguese support. Help materialized not only in the well-known military collaboration, but also in economic and social matters. It is on this last content that we will focus on this work, trying to show how the border of the Spanish West was the object of an exhaustive control on the part of the authorities of one and another country. Understanding, however, that it also had specific episodes of violation of this reciprocal border collaboration. Exceptions within an effective and lasting bilateral cooperation, which led to a historic change in the relations between the two countries, by giving up the Spanish arrogance and encouraging respect for Portugal. |
