description In these two comic book series catering to children and teenagers, Mexican national history is made more appealing through the use of fiction and visual illustrations. The first series is written by an author already expert in the art of mixing history and fiction (H. Frías) and illustrated by a well known artist (J. G. Posada). It is published by a private publisher and presented as an educational tool, equally beneficial to children and to the nation. The second one is illustrated by several teams of designers, led by teams of historians and scholars of other social sciences; it is published by the Secretary of Public Education with the initial goal of giving access to all (children and adults) to the historical truth. Those two collections, made in two periods separated by the Mexican Revolution, are profoundly different; but they also may converge much more than one first imagines.
