Description
Summary:This article examines the Spoc (Small private online course) created within the French as a foreign language (FFL) department at Sorbonne Université Abu Dhabi to prepare future students for their entry into the foundation year. This self-paced, multimodal and self-regulated learning approach offers an introduction to the French language and civilization. It is based on a learning theory, the connectivism, on the learning method called micro-learning and on an instructional modality, the Spoc. This study specifically focuses on the scenario design, creation, implementation, and facilitation of the Spoc. A quantitative enquiry evaluates its quality, questions its relevance, and explores students' perceptions of the Spoc. The investigation delves into avenues for improvement and guides pedagogical decisions based on students' experiential feedback.
