Description
Summary:This research examines the concept of teacher training as employed during the transition to the democratic period in Chile (1990-1998). For this purpose, discourse analysis was conducted in three stages. The first stage, via the exploration of the CREA 3.2 corpus, aims to demonstrate that the concept of teacher improvement is a resource of the educational discourse of that era. In the second stage, a grammatical analysis based on a pragmatic approach was conducted, using a corpus of 23 articles from the Chilean Ministry of Education. The third stage reconstructs the concept of training as a political discourse. Among the results, it was evident that metonymy is employed as a discursive strategy to evade the responsibilities of the State in an ideological discourse.
