Description
Summary:The Valêncio Xavier’s aesthetic aims a climax in his last work, Rremembranças da menina de rua morta nua e outros livros (2006). The allegorical format of the narratives invites the reader to the uncertain task of interpr etation, always intercepted by the nonsense effect caused by the mixture between sensationalism and melancholy. The dominance of photographs has a significant importance in the montage of pictures and words as a characteristic of the text. The photos, due to its dialectics between proximity and distance of the referent, have an ambivalent nature and dramatize the fetishism inherent to the commodities and to the sexuality. In this way, the work conceives simultaneously the denouncement of the society of spec tacle and the pleasant connivance with its objects and images.
