Human saliva exerts strong type-dependent effects on adenovirus infectivity
Published 2025-06-01“…All human Ads used were replication-competent and expressed a GLN cassette containing a green-fluorescent protein, nano-luciferase, and neomycin resistance. Loss-of-function experiments were conducted by immunoprecipitation or enzymatic digestion of specific saliva components to decipher related mechanisms.ResultsTemporal and inter-individual variability in saliva samples were observed, validating the use of a saliva pool to represent the population. …”

Pancreatic satellite cells derived galectin-1 increase the progression and less survival of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma.
Published 2014-01-01“…<h4>Background</h4>Galectin-1, a member of carbohydrate-binding proteins with a polyvalent function on tumor progression, was found strongly expressed in pancreatic satellite cells (PSCs), which partner in crime with cancer cells and promote the development of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). …”

Enhancing the Efficacy and Safety of Methotrexate Treatment: A Focus on Drug Interactions (Review)
Published 2024-10-01“…The toxicity of MTX may be increased by the concomitant administration of medicinal products that exhibit haematotoxicity and affect renal function (impair the elimination of medicines). When co-administering MTX and medicines having clinically significant DDIs described in the literature, healthcare providers should consider the risk factors for each individual patient. …”

Reducing syndemics of non-communicable chronic diseases in Mayan Indigenous population through community-based participatory research: a mixed-methods study protocol
Published 2025-08-01“…We will follow four phases of the CBPR: (1) situational analysis, through community censuses and semistructured interviews to understand the prevalence of NCDs and the syndemics in these communities; (2) co-construction of the elements of a SCM based on the health priorities identified by researchers, community members and healthcare workers; (3) implementation of this SCM and (4) evaluation of the SCM through (1) statistical analyses involving the construction of a syndemic index through stepwise logistic regression of the normalised and standardised key clinical, social and economic variables; interval and ratio variables will be normalised by their z-score and categorical variables will be one-hot encoded; similarity and social networks analysis with clustering to identify syndemic subpopulations; and cost-effectiveness and cost-utility analyses using Markov modelling and (2) narrative and thematic qualitative analysis of the SCM’s implementation and impact on community members’ health, function and quality of life.Ethics and dissemination Research ethics boards of participant institutions approved this research protocol. …”

Developments in the study of the role of lactate metabolism in the genesis and progression of thyroid cancer
Published 2025-08-01“…We systematically dissect the multifaceted regulatory circuits governing lactate metabolism by integrating three pivotal dimensions: (i) canonical signaling cascades; (ii) tumor-microenvironmental variables, most notably hypoxia and acidosis; and (iii) the emerging epigenetic paradigm of lactylation, which dynamically reprograms the catalytic efficiency of rate-limiting enzymes and reshapes the transcriptional landscape of metabolic genes, thereby precisely coordinating lactate homeostasis. …”
