Effect of Preheating Temperature of Substrate on the Water-Erosion Resistance of Laser-Cladded Coatings by XUE Xiang, LI Yong, WANG Xiao'en, LIU Gang, XIE Weiwei, WANG Mingyuan

    Published 2025-02-01
“…For further enhancing the water-erosion resistance of laser-cladded coatings, a self-developed improved high-speed steel alloy powder (X2) was employed to deposit a coating on the surface of 17-4PH steel through laser cladding technology.Instruments such as a microhardness tester, an optical microscope, and a water-erosion test rig were utilized to investigate the influence of the substrate preheating temperature on the mechanical properties, microstructure, and water-erosion resistance of the laser-cladded X2 coating. Results indicated that the microstructure of the prepared cladding layers was relatively uniform and dense. When the preheating temperature ranged from 150 ~200℃, the average microhardness of the cladding layer increased by 21.6 HV0.2 compared to that when the temperature ranged from 100~150 ℃.Moreover, appropriately increasing the substrate preheating temperature could effectively improve the microhardness of the cladding layer. After water-erosion test for 80 h, the weight loss of the laser-cladded layer with the substrate preheating temperature of 150~200 ℃was only 50%of that of the laser-cladded layer without preheating treatment. The maximum depth of the water-erosion pits was only 1/10 of that of the nonpreheated laser-cladded layer, and the water-erosion resistance was significantly enhanced.…”
