Geochemical characteristics and origins of CO2 emissions within the tectonic collision boundary of the Chihshang fault, eastern Taiwan by Ching-Chou Fu, Chung-Hsiang Mu, Hao Kuo-Chen, Pei-Ling Wang, Li-Hung Lin, Vivek Walia, Kuo-Hang Chen, Kuo-Wei Wu

    Published 2025-05-01
“…Situated within the tectonically active boundary between the Eurasian Plate and the Philippine Sea Plate, the CSF forms part of the Longitudinal Valley Fault system and is characterized by complex fault structures and high seismic activity. Previous research suggested a potential for mantle-derived gas emissions in this area, motivating this comprehensive study aimed at quantifying CO2 flux, identifying gas sources, and evaluating the role of the fault in facilitating gas migration. …”

Classification of maize seed hyperspectral images based on variable-depth convolutional kernels by Yating Hu, Hongchen Zhang, Hongchen Zhang, Changming Li, Qianfu Su, Wei Wang

    Published 2025-06-01
“…However, conventional hyperspectral data processing approaches often fail to simultaneously capture both spectral and textural features effectively.MethodsTo overcome this limitation, we propose a novel convolutional neural network architecture with a variable-depth convolutional kernel structure (VD-CNN). This design enables the network to adaptively extract continuous spectral features by modulating kernel depth, while simultaneously capturing fine-grained textural patterns through hierarchical convolutional operations. …”

Spatial heterogeneity and interacting intensity of drivers for trade-offs and synergies between carbon sequestration and biodiversity by Shuaiqi Yang, Shuangyun Peng, Xiaona Li, Xiaoyan Wei, Yingying Pan, Yuanmei Jiao

    Published 2024-12-01
“…The results showed that: (1) From 2012–2035, the total values of carbon sequestration and biodiversity exhibited an overall increasing trend, with 58.49 % of the area showing trade-off effects, 23.86 % showing positive synergy, and 17.65 % showing negative synergy. (2) Elevation, slope, topographic relief, temperature, and land use intensity were identified as key factors influencing trade-off and synergy, and these factors displayed significant spatial heterogeneity. (3) When multiple drivers interacted, their explanatory power for trade-off and synergy increased significantly. The interaction patterns among drivers presented a “topography➙climate↔human activity↔distance➙soil” structure, where human activity interacted bidirectionally with other factors, with the strongest interaction occurring between climate factors and human activity. …”

Contrasting Roles of the Multiple Seas in East Asia on Population Divergence of Smilax sieboldii (Smilacaceae) by Ya‐Lu Ru, Shan‐Shan Zhu, Xin‐Yi Fan, Wen‐Hao Li, Cheng‐Xin Fu, Yun‐Peng Zhao

    Published 2025-08-01
“…Meanwhile, IBD rather than IBE explained the population structure of S. sieboldii. To conclude, the phylogeographic patterns of S. sieboldii resulted from population isolation and admixture due to sea‐level fluctuations since the Pleistocene, and the spatial scale of a sea largely determined its ecological role among the multi‐sea systems. …”

Analysing Time Series of Land Subsidence in the West of Tehran Province (Shahriar Plain) and its Relation to Groundwater Discharge by InSAR Technique by Ramin Papi, ُSara Attarchi, Masoud Soleimani

    Published 2020-06-01
“…In this study, for the first time with a deeper look, the relationship between land subsidence and water underground level changes in observational wells was evaluated separately. Due to the observation of nonlinear patterns in relation to the correlation analysis between subsidence and groundwater levels in some areas of the study area, it is suggested that the geological structures of each well be separately examined and compared with the amount of subsidence in future research. …”
