Study on the Performance of Green Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor Based on Pelargonic Acid Compound by WANG Jia, LIU Xinyue, LU Lixin

    Published 2024-10-01
“…The volatile corrosion inhibition technology plays an important role in metal corrosion protection, and it is of great significance to develop new environment-friendly and efficient volatile corrosion inhibitor formulations.Using 10 steel as the research object,a study was conducted on the binary combination of pelargonic acid and sodium molybdate to explore its volatile phase corrosion inhibition effect through weight loss experiments. The corrosion conditions of the metal surfaces after electrochemical and weight loss tests were analyzed using electrochemical workstation, water contact angle tester, white light interferometer, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and energy dispersive spectrometer(EDS).Results showed that the composite inhibitor acted as an anodic corrosion inhibitor.Compared to single components, the corrosion inhibition efficiency of the different ratios of pelargonic acid and sodium molybdate was improved. The optimized combination of pelargonic acid and sodium molybdate exhibited a synergistic effect, achieving a corrosion inhibition efficiency of 92.89%at a ratio of 7 ∶3.The water contact angle of the metal surface was measured at 112.6°, forming a hydrophobic protective layer that significantly suppressed the dissolution of Fe and the formation of oxidation products, effectively reducing the surface roughness of the metal.…”
