Children’s Exposure to Volatile Organic Compounds: A Comparative Analysis of Assessments in Households, Schools, and Indoor Swimming Pools
Published 2024-12-01“…The findings reveal the co-occurrence of 16 VOCs (1,2,4-trimethylbenzene, benzene, ethylbenzene, m/o/p-xylenes, styrene, toluene, tetrachloroethylene, 2-ethylhexanol, butanol, acetophenone, ethyl acetate, benzaldehyde, decanal, nonanal, 1-methoxy-2-propanol and limonene) across all three settings, primarily associated to emissions from building materials and detergents. However, distinct patterns were also observed in the VOCs detected across the three indoor environments: in homes, the predominant VOCs were primarily released from cleaning and fragranced products; in schools, from ammonia-based cleaners and occupant activities; and in swimming pools, the predominant airborne chemicals were disinfection by-products resulting from the chemical dynamics associated with water disinfection. …”

Could work-related muscle activity explain sex differences in neck pain? A meta-analysis of a pooled dataset
Published 2025-07-01“…CONCLUSIONS: Compared to men, neck pain severity among women appears to be more dependent on upper trapezius muscle activity patterns at work. Therefore, ergonomic and organizational recommendations for work should be sex-specific or adjusted for women to reduce their prevalence of neck pain. …”

A Step-by-Step Harmonization Process for Nutritional Epidemiology Purposes: A Methodological Work of the Collaborative PROMED-COG Pooled Cohorts Study
Published 2023-11-01“…In particular, the challenge was the harmonization procedure for dietary habits that required several steps: (i) access to documentation from the original studies, (ii) discussion with the researchers responsible for each dataset; (iii) exploration of each dataset before the final harmonization; (iv) agreement on portion size and food frequency standardization, and food classification for healthy dietary pattern computation; (v) name, definition, and categorization of the harmonized common variable and the original variables, for each study; (vi) development and application of the algorithm to obtain the harmonized variables from the original ones; and (vii) final pooled dataset preparation. …”

Comparison of preference-based health-related quality of life measures for chronic neck pain: a pooled analysis of data from three RCTs
Published 2024-12-01“…Distribution analysis further indicated that EQ-5D-5L and SF-6Dv1 were not fully interchangeable due to variations in domain-level scoring patterns and ceiling effects observed in EQ-5D-5L.Conclusions EQ-5D-5L showed stronger negative correlations with both pain and functional outcomes compared with SF-6Dv1, suggesting that it may better capture the functional aspects of chronic neck pain, particularly in moderate-to-severe conditions. …”
