The contributions of fertility during adolescence to disability across the life-course: hypothesized causal pathways, research gaps, and future directions by Catherine M. Pirkle, Maria P. Velez, Tetine L. Sentell, Diego G. Bassani, Marlos R. Domingues, Saionara M. A. Câmara

    Published 2024-12-01
“…Limited theoretical or empirical research considers how and why such relationships exist generally or with the individual associated components of disablement. Objective To consolidate and critically evaluate literature to describe testable, theory-based hypotheses to guide future research on the mechanisms by which fertility during adolescence contributes to disablement. Methods Targeted literature review of research from diverse global settings contextualised in two well-accepted theoretical frameworks in life-course epidemiology: the cumulative risk model and the critical period approach. Results Five hypothesised causal pathways linking adolescent fertility to disablement in later life are described: 1) Causal relationship initiated by fertility during adolescence; 2) Common cause(s) for both, such as adverse childhood experiences; 3) Contributing cause(s) to adolescent fertility; 4) Interaction between adolescent fertility and other risk factors; and 5) Critical period effects unique to adolescence. Most research on the topic is on pathologies versus functional limitations and disability. Conclusion We highlight promising research avenues to inform future research and interventions on adolescent fertility and the disablement process. …”

Asymmetries of thermal processes in open quantum systems by Álvaro Tejero, Rafael Sánchez, Laiachi El Kaoutit, Daniel Manzano, Antonio Lasanta

    Published 2025-04-01
“…An intriguing phenomenon in nonequilibrium quantum thermodynamics is the asymmetry of thermal processes. Relaxation to thermal equilibrium is the most important dissipative process, being a key concept for the design of heat engines and refrigerators, contributing to the study of foundational questions of thermodynamics, and being relevant for quantum computing through the process of algorithmic cooling. …”

Business Process Reengineering based on Information Economics by syifa annastasia, Sinung Suakanto, Muharman Lubis

    Published 2025-09-01
“…However, research shows that up to 70% of BPR initiatives fail, often due to unclear value delivery and ineffective process redesign. This study aims to address that gap by redesigning the recruitment and selection process using an information economics approach evaluating the value of information to drive better decision making and resource allocation. …”

Prediction efficiency and incremental processing strategy during spoken language comprehension in autistic children: an eye-tracking study by Zihui Hua, Tianbi Li, Ruoxi Shi, Ran Wei, Li Yi

    Published 2025-08-01
“…However, research examining prediction in the language domain among autistic children remains limited, with inconsistent findings regarding prediction efficiency and insufficient investigation of how autistic children incrementally integrate multiple semantic elements during language processing. This study addresses these gaps by investigating both prediction efficiency and incremental processing strategy during spoken language comprehension in autistic children compared to neurotypical peers. …”
