Evaluation of the quality of life in patients with segmental dystonia
Published 2012-01-01“…Segmental dystonia is an abnormal movement, characterized by involuntary, sustained and repetitive muscular contractions, causing twisting and abnormal posturing of two or more adjacent body parts. It is not a life-reducing condition, but it deteriorates physical, mental and social functioning. …”

Pathogenic aspects of fructose consumption in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD): A narrative review
Published 2025-06-01“…Results of more recent experimental studies suggest that an elevated intake of fructose may also affect gut microbiota composition, alter small intestinal morphology and impair intestinal barrier function subsequently leading to an increased translocation of pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) into the portal circulation. …”

Improved estimates for extinction probabilities and times to extinction for populations of tsetse (Glossina spp)
Published 2019“…We provide these proofs, together with a more compact way of reaching the same results. We also show that, while the published equations hold good for the case where tsetse produce male and female offspring in equal proportion, a different solution is required for the more general case where the probability (β) that an offspring is female lies anywhere in the interval (0, 1). …”

Extended Framework for Preventive Maintenance Planning: Risk and Behaviour Analysis of a Proposed Optimization Model
Published 2023-01-01“…The proposed optimization model is formulated under a mixed integer linear programming (MILP) paradigm and its objective function seeks to minimize the unavailability of the system associated with the execution times of the activities developed, generating different experimental cases, and varying the start time scheduling under a tolerance factor from 0% up to a maximum of 25% for advance or delay. …”
