Pyruvate dehydrogenase kinase 1 is essential for transplantable mouse bone marrow hematopoietic stem cell and progenitor function.
Published 2017-01-01“…<h4>Principle findings</h4>Here we demonstrate that PDK1 activity is crucial for transplantable HSC function. Whereas Pdkl, Pdk2, and Pdk3 transcripts were expressed at higher levels in different subtypes of HSCs compared to differentiated cells, we could not detect any major differences in expression between LT-HSCs and more short-term HSCs and multipotent progenitors. …”

A study on resting-state functional near-infrared spectroscopy in patients with different outcomes of prolonged disorders of consciousness
Published 2025-06-01“…BackgroundTo explore the characteristics of resting-state functional connectivity in patients with different outcomes of prolonged disorders of consciousness (pDoC) by studying resting-state near-infrared imaging in patients with pDoC.Methods60 patients with pDoC were processed with resting-state near-infrared imaging and divided into unresponsive wakefulness syndrome/vegetative state (UWS/VS) group, minimally conscious state (MCS) group and escape minimally conscious state (EMCS) group according to the post-treatment state of consciousness, to analyze the difference of resting-state functional connectivity in patients with different outcomes of patients with pDoC.ResultsFunctional connectivity (FC) between frontal lobe and left occipital lobe, frontal lobe and right occipital lobe, and left and right occipital lobes decreased in the UWS/VS group compared with the MCS group; functional connectivity between frontal lobe and left occipital lobe, frontal lobe and right occipital lobe, and left and right occipital lobes decreased in the UWS/VS group compared with the EMCS group; functional connectivity did not show any significant difference between the EMCS and MCS groups; and functional connectivity was more centralized in the MCS group and EMCS group.ConclusionDifferent outcomes of patients with pDoC have different degrees of decline in functional connectivity between frontal lobe and occipital lobe and between occipital lobe, resting-state functional near-infrared spectroscopy has a certain reference significance for the prognosis of patients with pDoC, and it is helpful for exploring the exploration of the conscious residual brain areas.…”

Perinatal Exposure of Dams to a High Salt Diet Impaired Vascular Function and Elevated Biomarkers of Inflammation in the Offspring
Published 2025-08-01“…Conclusion: Findings from this study show that maternal perinatal HSD increased biomarkers of inflammation, impaired endothelial function and elevated BP in the adult offspring. These findings suggest maternal perinatal consumption of high dietary salt renders the offspring more susceptible to hypertension in adulthood.…”

Understanding the role of electrostatic force, van der Waals force, and osmotic pressure in retinal function and barrier integrity
Published 2025-02-01“…Abstract The retina’s intricate interplay of forces and structures, with a focus on the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) and photoreceptors, is essential for retinal health and function. Among these forces, electrostatic forces play a crucial role, working alongside van der Waals forces and oncotic pressure to maintain the retina’s attachment to the RPE and ensure the integrity of the blood-retina barrier (BRB). …”
