Epilepsia"Petit Mal" aspectos clínicos, eletrencefalográficos e evolutivos by Paulo Pinto Pupo, Olavo Pazzanese, Rosa Helena Longo

    Published 1961-01-01
“…Out of 37 patients with pure PM seizures we noted: a) that the age of onset did not on the whole favour or unfavour the evolution; b) the great majority of cases developed favorably: 18 patients have no more seizures, 11 still present a very minimum number of seizures; 6 later had GM seizures associated; one patient showed a rather serious impairment of his seizures; c) in cases of favorable development,' synchronous disrythmias by spike and wave 3 c/s disappeared, which was not what happened in the group of cases showing unfavorable development; d) total disappearance of disrythmias was only noted in those cases of favorable development; e) there were cases, both among the favorable and unfavorable development groups, where the initial disrythmias perceptibly modified with time and became diffuse sharp waves; f) background activity was normal in the great majority of cases; g) some of our patients developed with clinical fits even over the age of 30. …”

Extragalactic Magnetar Giant Flares: Population Implications, Rates, and Prospects for Gamma-Rays, Gravitational Waves, and Neutrinos by Paz Beniamini, Zorawar Wadiasingh, Aaron Trigg, Cecilia Chirenti, Eric Burns, George Younes, Michela Negro, Jonathan Granot

    Published 2025-01-01
“…As MGFs involve a release of a sizable fraction of the neutron star’s magnetic free energy reservoir in a single event, they provide us with invaluable tools for better understanding magnetar birth properties and the evolution of their magnetic fields. A major obstacle is to identify a (currently) small subpopulation of MGFs in a larger sample of more energetic and distant sGRBs. …”

    Published 2025-06-01
“…<p>The Adriatic Sea (eastern Mediterranean Basin) is traditionally considered a natural laboratory for studying a number of oceanographic processes of global interest, including coastal dynamics, dense water formation, and thermohaline circulation. More recently, the intensification of the effects of climate change and the increasing awareness of its possible consequences on the natural and socio-economic assets of the Adriatic Basin have opened new research questions and reframed most of the existing ones into a multi-decadal timescale. …”
