Depicting handshapes for animate referents in Swedish Sign Language
Published 2025-04-01“…The findings suggest that the event type, textual context and animacy of the depicted referent influence the choice between the 1- vs 2-handshape categories in STS, and that the 2-handshape category is used far more often than the former in our data. Furthermore, some of the analysed signs seem to have a limited depicting function in certain uses, suggesting possible grammaticalisation into a general [motion + VERB] construction, expressing an action being carried out at another location. …”

Subcortical correlates of individual differences in aptitude.
Published 2014-01-01“…We found that performance on measures of each aptitude was predicted by different subcortical structures: Math--higher right nucleus accumbens volume; Vocabulary--higher left hippocampus volume; Paper Folding--higher right thalamus volume; Foresight--lower right thalamus and higher mid anterior corpus callosum volume; Inductive Reasoning--higher mid anterior corpus callosum volume. Our results support general findings, within the cognitive neurosciences, showing lateralization of structure-function relationships, as well as more specific relationships between individual structures (e.g., left hippocampus) and functions relevant to particular aptitudes (e.g., Vocabulary).…”

THE SEQUANCE OF THE DIAGNOSTIC PROCESS DURING THE INVESTIGATION OF THE MASSETER AND TEMPORALIS MUSCLES IN PATIENTS WITH INTACT DENTAL ROWS
Published 2018-03-01“…Therefore, in the department of prosthodontics and implantology we have developed a proprietary guideline and a map of the orthopedic patient examination, which will be held EMG to standardize the approach to the investigation and establishment of a functional state of dentition. Survey map is based on the comprehensive study of the general state of patients, methodology of dental examination status by WHO for Eastern Europe as ORAL status was used partly - EAST for different age groups of the population (average DMF of dentition, CPI, loss of attachment of ligaments tooth, orthopedic status, the need for prosthetics under objective examination of the patient). …”

Cardiac Magnetic Resonance in the Assessment of Atrial Cardiomyopathy and Pulmonary Vein Isolation Planning for Atrial Fibrillation
Published 2025-05-01“…Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most frequently observed type of arrhythmia among adults, and its absolute prevalence is steadily rising in close association with the aging of the population, with its prevalence varying from 2% in the general population to 10–12% among the elderly. The relatively new concepts of ‘atrial cardiomyopathy’ and “AF-related atrial cardiomyopathy”, along with the growing body of knowledge regarding remodeling, function, and tissue characterization, highlight the need for novel approaches to the diagnostic process as well as in the therapeutic guidance and monitoring of atrial arrhythmias. …”

Slow walking speed and health-related exit from employment among older workers over 5 years of follow-up: evidence from the Health and Employment After Fifty (HEAF) cohort study
Published 2024-07-01“…Jobs that are very physically demanding are likely to be more difficult to sustain at older ages. If workers at risk of mismatch of demand and capability could be identified early, there would be opportunities for intervention for health or lifestyle and/or re-training or redeployment. Objective To investigate whether self-reported walking speed (a good measure of function in elderly people) predicted health-related job loss (HRJL) longitudinally over 5 years of follow-up among middle-aged workers.Design Data came from the Health and Employment After Fifty (HEAF) prospective cohort study of middle-aged people (aged 50–64 years) in UK.Setting General population survey (sampling frame was 24 General Practice registers).Participants The cohort included 8134 people recruited in 2013–2014. …”
