The disease-related biological functions of PIWI-interacting RNAs (piRNAs) and underlying molecular mechanisms by Tong Sun, Xiao Han

    Published 2019-07-01
“…Since mammalian PIWI subfamily proteins are mainly germline specific, it was once thought that piRNAs might only function in the gonadal cells. However, evidence from the later research suggest that piRNAs are broadly expressed in many kinds of somatic cells and are involved in numerous pathological condition far beyond those have been reported in the germline. …”

Effect of lipid peroxidation on the allergenicity and functional properties of soybean β-conglycinin (7S) and glycinin (11S) by Liying Ye, Liangtao Lü, Xiao Lin, Kan He, Xiaoquan Yang, Zhili Wan, Lizhong Liu, Haiqian Wu, Shaojun Xing, Xuli Wu

    Published 2023-05-01
“…A mouse model showed that oxidation reduced the IgE, IgG, and IgG1 levels, as well as reduced histamine and mMCP-1 release in serum, which might suppress the allergic reaction. In conclusion, the lipid peroxidation treatment likely causes changes to the functional properties of soybean, decreasing the potential allergenicity of 7S and 11S.…”

Generation of Soluble Interleukin-11 and Interleukin-6 Receptors: A Crucial Function for Proteases during Inflammation by Juliane Lokau, Maria Agthe, Christoph Garbers

    Published 2016-01-01
“…The cytokines interleukin-11 (IL-11) and IL-6 are important proteins with well-defined pro- and anti-inflammatory functions. They activate intracellular signaling cascades through a homodimer of the ubiquitously expressed signal-transducing β-receptor glycoprotein 130 (gp130). …”

Endophytic Bacterial Community, Core Taxa, and Functional Variations Within the Fruiting Bodies of <i>Laccaria</i> by Kaixuan Zhang, Xin Chen, Xiaofei Shi, Zhenyan Yang, Lian Yang, Dong Liu, Fuqiang Yu

    Published 2024-11-01
“…By analyzing bacterial diversity, community structure, and function through 16S rRNA sequencing, we observed the following: (1) In total, 4,840,291 high-quality bacterial sequences obtained from the fruiting bodies were grouped into 16,577 amplicon sequence variants (ASVs), and all samples comprised 23 shared bacterial ASVs. (2) The <i>Allorhizobium</i>-<i>Neorhizobium</i>-<i>Pararhizobium</i>-<i>Rhizobium</i> complex was found to be the most abundant and presumably coexisting bacterium. (3) A network analysis revealed that endophytic bacteria formed functional groups, which were dominated by the genera <i>Allorhizobium</i>-<i>Neorhizobium</i>-<i>Pararhizobium</i>-<i>Rhizobium</i>, <i>Novosphingobium</i>, and <i>Variovorax</i>. (4) The diversity, community structure, and dominance of ecological functions (chemoheterotrophy and nitrogen cycling) among endophytic bacteria were significantly shaped by geographic location, habitat, and fungal genotype, rather than fruiting body type. (5) A large number of the endophytic bacteria within <i>Laccaria</i> are bacteria that promote plant growth; however, some pathogenic bacteria that pose a threat to human health might also be present. …”
