Dimuon and ditau production in photon-photon collisions at next-to-leading order in QED by Hua-Sheng Shao, David d’Enterria

    Published 2025-02-01
“…The NLO terms are found to modify the total fiducial cross sections by up to 5%, increasing the tails of the dilepton acoplanarity and transverse momentum distributions, and depleting by up to 15% the yields at high masses, with respect to the leading-order predictions including the very small virtuality of the colliding photons. At the LHC, the calculations obtained with the charge form factor for protons and lead ions including the NLO QED corrections improve the data-theory agreement for all measured differential distributions, and prove an indispensable ingredient for the extraction of precision quantities in photon-photon processes, such as the anomalous magnetic moment of the tau lepton.…”

Multi-parameter control of photodetection in van der Waals magnet CrSBr by Shiqi Yang, Zhigang Song, Yuchen Gao, Leyan Huang, Xinyue Huang, Pingfan Gu, Wenjing Liu, Zuxin Chen, Yu Ye

    Published 2025-02-01
“…The linear dichroic ratio of the photocurrent in CrSBr tunneling device can reach ~60 at 1.65 K, and the photoresponse experiences a significant boost with increasing magnetic field. Additionally, the unique spin-charge coupling engenders a photon energy-dependent photocurrent that is modulated by an external field and is validated by first-principle calculations. …”

A New Interpretation for the Hot Corona in Active Galactic Nuclei by Yu Zhao, Yan-Rong Li, Jian-Min Wang

    Published 2025-01-01
“…Within this reconnection layer, the tearing instability leads to the formation of a chain of plasmoids, which contain relativistic electrons that generate X-ray radiation through inverse-Compton (IC) scattering of soft photons emitted by the accretion disk. Based on previous theoretical works and numerical simulations, we develop a heuristic framework to parameterize the geometry and magnetization of the reconnection layer, as well as to compute both the power of the IC-scattering radiation and the height of the reconnection layer. …”
