Corrosion Inhibition Behavior of Different Chain Lengths Pyridine Ionic Liquid for N80 Steel in Hydrochloric Acid Solution by XUE Juan-qin, GAO Yuan, TANG Chang-bin, FAN Lei, YIN Cheng-xian

    Published 2021-06-01
“…In order to obtain ionic liquid inhibitors with lower concentration and higher efficiency than idazolines, the corrosion inhibition behaviors of N80 steel in hydrochloric acid solution with different concentrations of Pyridine ionic liquids including B4MePyBr, O4MePyBr and dimethyl sulfate pyridinium quaternary ammonium salt corrosion inhibitor were studied by using weight loss experiments, electrochemical tests, scanning electron microscope(SEM)and atomic force microscope(AFM).The weight loss experiments indicated that the corrosion inhibition efficiency was improved as the concentration of the three kinds of inhibitors increased.Under the conditions of 25 ℃ and 10 mmol/L of O4MePyBr, the corrosion inhibition efficiency could increase to more than 90%, and the maximum efficiency order of them was O4MePyBr > B4MePyBr > dimethyl sulfate pyridine quaternary ammonium salt.Based on electrochemical tests, all of three inhibitors belonged to the mixed-type corrosion inhibitors. From surface morphology analysis, the inhibitor could be effectively adsorbed on the surface of carbon steel, and the adsorption layer was very dense.Besides, the adsorption of three inhibitors the carbon steel surface followed the Langmuir isotherm.…”
