Analysis on Corrosion Rate of Wuhan Buried Gas Pipelines Under Rail Transit Stray Current Interference by LI Bo-cong, JIANG Zi-tao, YANG Jun-hua, WANG Hong-xing, LI Pei, CHEN Cheng

    Published 2021-01-01
“…With the rapid development of rail transit in Wuhan, the stray current of rail transit leaking to the earth is increasing. However, there is no systematic study on the corrosion rate under the interference of Wuhan rail transits, especially the dynamic stray current of trams. In this paper, the pipe to ground potential of Wuhan Rail Transit under dynamic DC interference was monitored continuously for 24 h.The risk assessment of the interference was carried out and 6 high corrosion risk points were obtained, where the corrosion rate was tested. Results showed that the natural corrosion rate of the soil was 0.022~0.063 mm/a, the corrosion rate caused by the interference was 0~0.38 mm/a.Under the good cathodic protection, the corrosion risk of the gas pipes was low.The corrosion rate of gas pipelines under the interference of stray current was several or even a dozen times more than that under natural soil corrosion. At the tram measure point with the highest level of interference, the highest test rate was 0.38 mm/a.…”
