Neurovascular coupling of inhibitory control in late-onset depression: a simultaneous EEG-fMRI study
Published 2025-08-01“…However, these were unimodal studies that provided an incomplete picture of the phenomenon, due to the single technique sensitivity and limited by the characteristics of each technique itself. In this study, we performed an EEG-driven fMRI analysis to explore the different hemodynamic correlates of specific event-related potentials (ERPs) of inhibitory control in late-onset MDD during a visuomotor Go/No-Go task. …”

Arteriovenous cerebral high-flow shunts: genetic analysis of patients from a pediatric tertiary care center
Published 2025-03-01“…The present study aimed to genetically characterize a cohort of 29 patients affected by arteriovenous cerebral high-flow shunts who were treated at a pediatric referral center.MethodsThe genetic techniques employed include next-generation sequencing, multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplification, and whole-exome sequencing.ResultsOf the 29 patients, 11 cases were found to have variants in genes associated with vascular functions, five cases received a genetic diagnosis, one case presented with a variant of uncertain significance in the EPHB4 gene, and five cases showed variants in novel genes possibly linked with cerebrovascular disorders.DiscussionWe provide extensive case descriptions and attempt to infer the genotype–phenotype correlations; variants in all of the known genes associated with arteriovenous cerebral shunts were reported in VGAM patients, while cutaneous angiomas were specific to RASA1 mutations. …”

Prokaryotic Argonautes – variations on the RNA interference theme
Published 2014-04-01“…The key enzyme of the RNAi system is Argonaute (Ago), an endo-ribonuclease that uses a small RNA guide molecule to specifically target a complementary RNA transcript. Two functional classes of eukaryotic Ago have been described: catalytically active Ago that cleaves RNA targets complementary to its guide, and inactive Ago that uses its guide to bind target RNA to down-regulate translation efficiency. …”
