One-Step Electrochemical Preparation of Super-Hydrophobic Aluminum Surface and the Anti-Corrosion Performance by LI Li-ping, ZHOU Ji-cheng, LIU Yuan-wei, CHEN Yu

    Published 2021-06-01
“…The super-hydrophobic modification of metal materials surface can significantly improve their corrosion resistance. The super-hydrophobic aluminum surface was fabricated with chemical etching and electrochemical anodization.Super-hydrophobic structure was constructed on aluminum surface by one-step method. The effect of HCl concentration and anodization time on the surface micro-structure and composition of aluminum electrode was investigated. The hydrophobic properties of aluminum surface were characterized by contact angle tester. The microstructure and chemical composition of aluminum surface were observed by SEM and EDS.Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS)and electrochemical noise(EN)technique were employed to evaluated the anti-corrosion performance of modified aluminum electrode in 3.5% NaCl solution. Results indicated that a super-hydrophobic aluminum surface was prepared on the pure aluminum under 2 V voltage and 20 min anodization time in 0.015 mol/L HCl solution, with the contact angle(CA)and sliding angle(SA)were 155.8° and 3.1°, respectively.EIS measurements revealed that the charge transfer resistance increased from 121 Ω·cm2 to 1 941 Ω·cm2 and the protection efficiency of super-hydrophobic aluminum surface was as high as 93.8%.EN results showed that the super-hydrophobic modification of the aluminum electrode could remarkably reduce its localized corrosion strength in 3.5% NaCl solution.…”
