Progress and Challenge of Optical Remote Sensing Inversion on Soil Moisture by QIN Xiangdong, PANG Zhiguo, JIANG Wei

    Published 2021-01-01
“…Soil moisture is an important parameter for influencing the land surface rainfall and runoff, and a key parameter for understanding the interaction of water and energy between the earth and the atmosphere.Monitoring of this parameter is of great significance to agricultural development and water resources management. As the main means for large-scale monitoring of soil moisture, the remote sensing inversion has received much attention in many studies in terms of method and accuracy.Among them, the research of optical remote sensing inversion on soil moisture lasts the longest, and many inversion methods have been developed currently. In order to sort out these inversion methods, this paper summarizes the commonly used remote sensing data for optical inversion on soil moisture at first, then classifies the inversion methods into reflectivity method, index method and thermal inertia method according to the different objects that correlates with soil moisture in the method and explains their principles, advantages, disadvantages and research progress, and finally discusses the main problems faced by the current optical remote sensing inversion methods as follow:The inversion methods are seriously affected by cloud and fog weather. The effective depth of soil moisture obtained by the inversion method is limited. The inversion methods take insufficient account of land surface heterogeneity.…”

Numerical Study of the Effect of Furrows on Biosonar Beamforming in Aselliscus Stoliczkanus Bat by Weikai HE, Jianxiong FENG, Li GAO, Zhiwei ZHANG, Hongwang LU

    Published 2017-07-01
“…Using micro-tomography scanning technique, a 3D digital model of the noseleaf is reconstructed and biosonar beam pattern is analysed using a finite element method based on the 3D noseleaf model. The present research focuses on the conspicuous furrows in noseleaf, and our analysis allows to conclude the followings: a) structural details in noseleaf of Aselliscus Stoliczkanus bat can produce acoustic effects even if it is not adjacent to the nostrils, b) the furrows possess frequency-selective characteristics, c) the furrows have the function to manipulate the direction and width of the outgoing ultrasound wave.…”

Three-dimensional combined inversion method of the MT and Network-MT response functions by Yoshiya Usui, Makoto Uyeshima

    Published 2025-08-01
“…Although galvanic distortion can be estimated in addition to subsurface resistivity in the inversion, it requires the determination of the tradeoff parameters for the regularization terms for the distortion tensor as well as the resistivity structure. One of the most effective approaches for robustly estimating the resistivity structure with correction of galvanic distortion is using the response function of the Network-MT method, which uses metallic telephone lines to measure the electric field. …”
