The Limits of Looking: Conceptualising the Frame in Ann Quin’s Berg and Christine Brooke-Rose’s Out
Published 2021-12-01“…This article will consider the motif of the frame — conceived of as a device which isolates and presents that which falls within its bounds — in two experimental British post-war novels (Christine Brooke-Rose’s Out and Ann Quin’s Berg, both published in 1964) as a means of drawing parallels between experimental literature and conceptual art in Britain during the 1960s. I argue that Brooke-Rose and Quin develop a heightened interest in visuality in the 60s, which, in the early works examined here manifests as a thematization of vision, and in later works provokes more overt visual experiments with typography and illustration. …”

New relative sea-level (RSL) indications from the Eastern Mediterranean: Middle Bronze Age to the Roman period (~3800-1800 y BP) archaeological constructions at Dor, the Carmel coa...
Published 2021-01-01“…This was followed by a rapid rise to present levels, starting in the Hellenistic period and concluding during the Roman period (ca. 2200-1800 y BP). These Roman levels agree with other relative sea-level indications from Israel and other tectonically stable areas in the Mediterranean. …”

A Miniaturized Loaded Open-Boundary Quad-Ridge Horn with a Stable Phase Center for Interferometric Direction-Finding Systems
Published 2024-12-01“…Second, electrically small-sized antennas are more susceptible to the effects of common-mode currents (CMCs), which can reduce the symmetry of the radiation pattern and the stability of the phase center. To avoid the generation of common-mode currents during operation, a self-balanced feed structure was introduced into the proposed antenna design. …”

How doctors generate diagnostic hypotheses: a study of radiological diagnosis with functional magnetic resonance imaging.
Published 2011-01-01“…The mean response time for diagnosing lesions was 1.33 (SD ±0.14) seconds and 1.23 (SD ±0.13) seconds for naming animals. 72% of the radiologists reported cogitating differential diagnoses during trials (3.5 seconds). The overall pattern of cortical activations was remarkably similar for both types of targets. …”

A Novel Long Short-Term Memory-Based Approach for Microgrid Fault Detection and Classification Using the Wavelet Scattering Transform
Published 2025-01-01“…These characteristics undermine the effectiveness of conventional protection schemes, particularly those based on overcurrent relays (OCRs) that are designed for systems with predictable and high fault currents. During islanded operation, a common mode in microgrids, fault currents are often reduced, making fault detection and isolation even more difficult. …”

LATE BERRIASIAN–EARLY VALANGINIAN EVOLUTION AND DROWNING OF THE GETIC CARBONATE PLATFORM (SE SERBIA)
Published 2025-06-01“…Syn-sedimentary tectonics appears to be responsible for uplift and subaerial exposure, subsequent rapid deepening and platform demise, possibly associated with increased nutrients during transgression. The Berriasian–Valanginian carbonate strata of Dimitrovgrad show similar evolution to other contemporaneous carbonate systems of western Tethys, highlighting the effects of regional tectonics and global controlling factors on carbonate deposition in the earliest Cretaceous. …”

Study on model test of creep deformation and failure evolution in deep high-stress roadways
Published 2025-08-01“…In response to the significant deformation and support difficulties of deep underground roadways caused by the strong time-dependent behavior of surrounding rock, based on the deep roadways of Wugou Coal Mine, a similar model test technology that can truly simulate the creep characteristics of rocks was designed and a large-scale physical model test was conducted. During the test, the loading stress was first set to simulate the real stress environment of deep roadways, and then a step-by-step excavation, timely support, and stepwise stress increment simulation method was adopted to conduct the creep deformation test. …”
