City parks and slow streets: A utility-based access and equity analysis by Gregory Macfarlane, Carole Turley Voulgaris, Teresa Tapia

    Published 2022-09-01
“…We find, for example, that neighborhoods with more lower-income residents and those with more residents of color show a greater preference for park proximty while neighborhods with higher incomes and those with more white residents show a greater preference for park size and amenities. We then apply this model to examine the accessibility benefits resulting from COVID-19 street conversions to create a set of small park-like open spaces; we find that this has been a pro-social policy in that Black, Hispanic, and low-income households receive a disproportionate share of the policy benefits, relative to the population distribution. …”

Dynamic cache allocation routing strategy of Internet of things satellite node based on traffic prediction by Weidong WANG, Cheng WANG, Huiwen WANG, Pin XU

    Published 2020-02-01
“…Aiming at the routing problem of low earth orbit (LEO) Internet of things (IoT) satellite systems,a dynamic cache allocation routing strategy based on traffic prediction for IoT satellite nodes was proposed.Firstly, the space-time characteristics of traffic distribution in the LEO coverage area were analyzed, and an end-to-end traffic prediction model was proposed. Then, according to the traffic prediction result,a dynamic cache allocation routing strategy was proposed. The satellite node periodically monitored the traffic load of the inter-satellite link, dynamically allocated the cache resources of each inter-satellite link between the neighboring nodes. The cache allocation process was divided into two phases, initialization and system operation. At the same time, the traffic offload and packet forwarding strategy when the node was congested was proposed.By comparing the queuing delay and the forwarding delay,it was determined whether the data packet needs to be rerouted. The simulation results show that the proposed routing strategy effectively reduces the packet loss rate and average end-to-end delay, and improves the traffic distribution in the whole network.…”

Design and Application of Water Conservancy Model Management Service Platform by TIAN Maochun, ZOU Xianyong, YANG Yue, HE Qilian

    Published 2022-01-01
“…The current water conservancy model cannot realize unified access and use,and the computing efficiency of multiple users, models, and schemes is low.In addition, the ability of sharing applications deeply bound with the system is weak. Therefore, the model fails to meet the requirements of intelligent water conservancy and digital twin watershed construction. In view of this, this paper designs a water conservancy model management service platform and applies it to practice.First, different types of water conservancy models are integrated, and their service interfaces are standardized,so as to uniformly receive model calculation service parameters and data in different formats and then convert them into required formats through platform adaptation, which avoids the problem of difficult unified invocation caused by differences in the interfaces of each model.Second, model computing resources are deployed and managed in a unified manner, and model calculation requests are distributed to different servers for calculation through task scheduling,so as to improve the resource utilization rate and reduce calculation time. Finally,a water conservancy model management service platform is developed, which integrates model management, model service, and model assembly functions,so as to provide the application system with model computing service. The application of multiple projects shows that the platform can integrate and share the resources of water conservancy models, give full play to the smart function, and provide support for the construction of intelligent water conservancy and digital twin watersheds.…”
