Self-Healing Properties of Titanium/Zirconium/Vanadium Composite Conversion Coating on Surface of Aluminum Alloy

    Published 2021-08-01
“…In order to investigate the self-healing properties of the titanium/zirconium/vanadium composite conversion coatings, the microstructure, composition and structure of the titanium/ziconium/vanadium composite conversion coating were investigated by using transmission electron microscope(TEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD)and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analyzer(XPS).The self-healing phenomenon of the coating was observed by a scanning electrochemical workstation. With the help of scratch experiment and scanning electron microscope(SEM),the self-healing property of the coating was verified, and corresponding material migration phenomenon in the self-healing process of titanium/zirconium/vanadium composite conversion coating was further analyzed. Results showed that the titanium/ziconium/vanadium composite conversion coating structure was very complex, the metal oxides in the coating preferentially nucleated in the second phase, and then fluoride and metal-organic complexes were deposited by electrostatic adsorption. Moreover, the coating had a certain self-healing property, and the self-healing phenomenon was related to the diffusion of metal fluoride and organic complex in the film layer.…”
