Temporal Dynamics and Disturbance Responses in Coral‐Dwelling Decapods Provide a Novel Perspective on Their Ecological Role in Coral Reef Systems by Susanne Bähr, Natalie Dunn, Sancia E. T. van derMeij, Joydeep Chowdhury, Francesca Benzoni

    Published 2025-06-01
“…This study provides novel insights into cryptochirid ecology, revealing unexpectedly high temporal variability in their populations. The observed dynamics suggest gall crabs may occupy a functional role akin to cryptobenthic reef fish by contributing to reef energy transfer, converting host‐derived resources like coral mucus into forms accessible to higher trophic levels and supplementing zooplankton communities with larvae. …”

Effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of personalised dietary advice aiming at increasing protein intake on physical functioning in community-dwelling older adults with lower habitu... by Ingeborg A Brouwer, Marjolein Visser, Ilse Reinders, Hanneke A H Wijnhoven, Satu K Jyväkorpi, Merja H Suominen, Riikka Niskanen, Kristien S Fluitman, Michel C A Klein, Lothar D Kuijper, Laura M van der Lubbe, Margreet R Olthof, Kaisu H Pitkälä, Rachel Vijlbrief

    Published 2020-11-01
“…Introduction Short-term metabolic and observational studies suggest that protein intake above the recommended dietary allowance of 0.83 g/kg body weight (BW)/day may support preservation of lean body mass and physical function in old age, but evidence from randomised controlled trials is inconclusive. Methods and analysis The PRevention Of Malnutrition In Senior Subjects in the EU (PROMISS) trial examines the effect of personalised dietary advice aiming at increasing protein intake with or without advice regarding timing of protein intake to close proximity of usual physical activity, on change in physical functioning after 6 months among community-dwelling older adults (≥65 years) with a habitual protein intake of <1.0 g/kg adjusted (a)BW/day. …”

Solid-phase relations in the FeSe-Ga2Se3-Se system and thermodynamic investigation of the FeGa2Se4 compound and (FeSe)1-х(Ga2Se3)х solid solutions by Faik M. Mammadov, Dunya M. Babanly, Samira Z. Imamaliyeva, Ilaha F. Huseynova, Mykola V. Moroz, Vusala A. Abbasova, Ikhtiyar B. Bakhtiyarly, Mahammad B. Babanly

    Published 2025-09-01
“…It was obtained that the solid solutions based on Ga2Se3 and FeGa2Se4 are in stable tie-lines with elemental selenium. For the thermodynamic study, the following reversible concentration cells (-) Fe(s.) | glycerol + KCl+FeCl2 | (Fe in alloy) (+) were assembled and their electromotive forces (EMF) were measured between 300–450 K temperature interval. The relative partial molar Gibbs energy, enthalpy, and entropy of iron in the alloys were calculated using the linear equations of the temperature dependences of the EMF in the various phase areas of the FeSe-Ga2Se3-Se system that were obtained from these EMF observations. The standard thermodynamic functions of formation and standard entropies of the FeGa2Se4 compound and (FeSe)1-х(Ga2Se3)х (x¯ = 0,55; 0,8; 0,9) solid solutions were computed from the given partial molar quantities using thermodynamic data for Ga2Se3 and the solid-phase equilibria diagram.…”
