Multi-omics analyses reveal altered gut microbial thiamine production in obesity by Yu Xia, Yu Xia, Longya Lu, Lulu Wang, Yanyan Qiu, Xingyin Liu, Weihong Ge, Weihong Ge, Weihong Ge

    Published 2025-06-01
“…Integrated analysis indicated that thiamine deficiency was positively associated with the depletion of thiamine auxotrophic bacteria in the obese microbiome. Functional analysis revealed that KOs content for enzymes involved in the microbial production of thiamine were significantly lower in obesity, including tRNA uracil 4-sulfurtransferase (ThiI, PWilcoxon = 0.001) and nucleoside-triphosphatase (NTPCR, PWilcoxon = 0.006), both of which were positively associated with fecal thiamine.ConclusionOur study highlights the impairment of microbial thiamine production and its broad associations with gut microbiota dysbiosis and obesity-related phenotypes. …”

Hesperidin alleviates hypothyroidism-related cardiac dysfunction by targeting cardiac miRNAs, Nrf2/NF-κB signaling, oxidative stress and inflammation by Asmaa M. Gaber, Adel Abdel-Moneim, Eman S. Abdel-Reheim, Gamal Allam, Manal Abdul-Hamid, Ahmed Hosni, Ahmed Hosni

    Published 2025-07-01
“…Despite HSD and LT4 effectively alleviating the THs profile, only HSD offered substantial protection from hypothyroidism-associated cardiac inflammation and injury through its potent impact on the transcriptional miRNAs level and Nrf2/NF-κB protein expression (key regulators of the redox biomarkers and the inflammatory mediators).ConclusionHSD provides dual thyroprotective and cardioprotective effects that enhance THs bioavailability and functionality in the cardiovascular system.…”

Grip Strength, Fall Efficacy, and Balance Confidence as Associated Factors with Fall Risk in Middle-Aged and Older Adults Living in the Community by Priscila Marconcin, Estela São Martinho, Joana Serpa, Samuel Honório, Vânia Loureiro, Marcelo de Maio Nascimento, Fábio Flôres, Vanessa Santos

    Published 2025-07-01
“…Background: Falls are a major public health concern among older adults, often resulting in injury, functional decline, and reduced quality of life. While handgrip strength (HGS), fall efficacy, and balance confidence have individually been associated with fall risk, their combined predictive value is still underexplored, particularly in physically active older adults. …”
