The Tanaidacea challenge to invasion science: taxonomic ambiguities and small size result in another potential overlooked introduction to the Iberian coast and nearby areas by Anna Stępień, Anna M. Jażdżewska, Romeu S. Ribeiro, Rafael Santos, Macarena Ros

    Published 2023-11-01
“…Here we investigate specimens that resembled both Hexapleomera sasuke and Zeuxo turkensis collected in marinas around the Iberian and Moroccan coasts. Integrating morphological and molecular methods (barcoding) we confirmed: (1) the first record and presence of well-structured populations of Z. turkensis in Spain, Portugal and Morocco, representing the first record of the species for Atlantic waters; (2) the conspecificity between H. sasuke and Z. turkensis, which should be synonymized; and (3) the wide distribution of Z. turkensis associated with human transport hubs (i.e. marinas) in the study area, showing its potential for introduction and spread. …”

Dynamic Graph Attention Network for Skeleton-Based Action Recognition by Zhenhua Li, Fanjia Li, Gang Hua

    Published 2025-04-01
“…Skeleton-based human action recognition has garnered significant attention for its robustness to background noise and illumination variations. However, existing methods relying on Graph Convolutional Networks (GCNs) and Transformers exhibit inherent limitations: GCNs struggle to model interactions between non-adjacent joints due to predefined skeletal topology, while Transformers accumulate noise through unrestricted global dependency modeling. …”

A Unified Surrogate Framework for Data-Driven Reliability Analysis of Mechanical Systems from Low to Multi-DOF by Lun Shao, Alexandre Saidi, Abdel-Malek Zine, Mohamed Ichchou

    Published 2025-02-01
“…This paper proposes a unified reliability analysis framework for mechanical and structural systems equipped with Tuned Mass Dampers (TMDs), encompassing single-degree-of-freedom (1-DOF), two-degrees-of-freedom (2-DOF), and ten-degrees-of-freedom (10-DOF) configurations. The methodology integrates four main components: (i) probabilistic uncertainty modeling for mass, damping, and stiffness, (ii) Latin Hypercube Sampling (LHS) to efficiently explore parameter variations, (iii) Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) for estimating failure probabilities under stochastic excitations, and (iv) machine learning models, including Random Forest (RF), Gradient Boosting (GB), Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost), and Neural Networks (NNs), to predict structural responses and failure probabilities. …”
