Effects of balanced opioid-free anesthesia on post-operative nausea and vomiting in patients undergoing video-assisted thoracic surgery: a randomized trial
Published 2025-02-01“…The primary outcome was the incidence of PONV, which was assessed with the Myles’s simplified PONV impact scale during the initial 24 h after surgery. Results Compared with OBA group, the overall incidence of PONV in OFA group was significant reduced (14.6% vs. 30.1%, P = 0.017), and OFA reduced the risk of PONV events within 24 h of surgery (HR, 0.44; 95%CI: 0.22–0.87, P = 0.018). …”

Lean Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis Draping
Published 2025-02-01“…This paper aims to describe the specific technique utilized at our institution to decrease the waste of draping materials and time to provide the most efficient procedure, while potentially minimizing radiation exposure. Key Concepts: (1) Providers and institutions should aim to decrease unnecessary surgical waste and improve surgical efficiency. (2) We describe a fast draping technique that decreases waste and can be used for stable or unstable SCFE on a radiolucent flattop or fracture table. (3) The draping technique on a radiolucent table can easily be adapted for bilateral procedures.…”

Comprehensive evaluation of the nutritional value and contaminants of alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) in China
Published 2025-02-01“…Nutritional value analysis and contamination evaluation are essential for sustainable utilisation to ensure the quality and safety of alfalfa.AimWe aimed to evaluate the nutritional value and safety of alfalfa in five major regions in China—the Northeast Plain (NP), Inner Mongolia Plateau (IMP), Northwest Desert Oasis (NO), Loess Plateau (LP), and Huanghuaihai Plain (HP).MethodsNinety-five samples representing 44 large-scale pratacultural companies were collected and analysed.ResultsThe average nutritional values of alfalfa hay were 16.43% crude protein (CP), 44.01% neutral detergent fibre (NDF), 33.22% acid detergent fibre (ADF), 10.78% crude ash (Ash), and 91.90% dry matter (DM), which were better in the NO and IMP areas; in particular, the α-linolenic acid value of alfalfa was the highest in the IMP area (p < 0.05). …”
