    “…The study results on the causes of drug abuse among secondary learners were; stress, idleness makes people go to drugs drinking, a factor of the working places, lack of effective laws, the factor of peer pressure, and lack of education on its negative side and leisure factors, study results on the effects of drug abuse on the learner's academic performance were; this leads to strikes among students which affects the student's performance, leads to diseases which affects the student's performance, distortion of memory and brain which affects student's performance, damages to the liver of the students which affects the student's performance and interpersonal difficulties which also affects student's performance and the study results on the possible measures to drug abuse on the learners academic performance were; government intervention by restricting students on drugs use, reduce on the rate of drinking, doctor- prescribed medications and abstinence must be part of one's treatment goal. The study recommended that students should reduce and if possible abstain from drugs taking if they are to keep track of education well and improve their academic performance, the government should intervene by putting strict laws on the way sellers of drugs should put the time to open their bars and to close them to reduce on drugs taking among people, students should look for other ways of reducing stress not to end it by drugs taking since it affects their brain and also affects their academic performance, students' leisure time should be spent productively on doing some activities like reading and discussing but not to spend it on drugs abusing if they are to move forward effectively with the education process and there should be massive sensitization on the dangers of drugs on academic performance of students to reduce and if possible end drugs taking among school learning children.…”
