The efficacy of an allosteric modulator of the alpha 7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor in a murine model of stroke
Published 2025-02-01“…In the 72-hour post-stroke study, the animals were injected with 20mg/kg of PNU or vehicle subcutaneously immediately after reperfusion, followed by two additional doses of 10mg/kg of PNU or vehicle at 24 and 48 hours post-tMCAO. Seventy-two hours later, behavior function and infarct area were assessed.ResultsIn contrast to previous rat studies that demonstrated improvements in clinical outcomes, a single administration of PNU following stroke induction led to a reduction in acute neuropathology but did not produce a significant improvement in motor outcomes. …”

Golden Tandem of Photothermal Ablation and Simultaneous Anti-Inflammation in One Nanoparticle for Activated Macrophage-Targeted Atherosclerosis Treatment
Published 2025-02-01“…The preparation and characterization of GSNPD, their cellular toxicity, photothermal conversion and targeted ablation efficiency, anti-inflammation and ROS scavenging effect, as well as the inhibition of foam cell formation were studied in vitro. Results: The experimental results showed that the fabricated GSNPD NPs displayed positive effects on anti-atherosclerosis by pro-inflammatory macrophages ablation, NO production and ROS scavenging.Discussion: GSNPD NPs were designed to effectively and accurately ablate pro-inflammatory macrophages by recognizing and targeting to SR-A overexpressed on the activated macrophages of arterial plaques via PTT, and simultaneous inhibit the PTT-induced inflammation through the laser-activated NO release in situ. This match of therapeutic agents and inhibitors not only achieves good therapeutic effects but also minimizes side effects as much as possible, which may provide an effective way for PTT-based treatment of atherosclerosis. Keywords: gold nanorods, photothermal therapy, NO, activated macrophages, atherosclerosis…”

Impact of COVID-19 on the Air Quality over China and India Using Long-term (2009–2020) Multi-satellite Data
Published 2020-11-01“…In contrast, the curve of monthly mean tropospheric columnar burden of NO2 and SO2 over India has shown moderate reduction of 16% and 20%, respectively because lockdown came into effect much later in March 2020. The mean NO2 and SO2 over IGP region is found to be 25% higher than whole India’s mean concentration due to large scale urban settlement and crop burning events. …”

Combining zinc oxide nanoparticles with green and novel nanocomposites for enhanced oil recovery in porous media by considering asphaltene deposition and production parameters
Published 2025-01-01“…Because nanoparticles require less concentration of nanocomposites than conventional chemical enhanced oil recovery technologies, working with them is safer and more affordable. The zinc oxide nanoparticles with their small sizes can transport easier through reservoir porous media, and modifying mainly includes wettability alteration, interfacial tension reduction, changing disjoining pressure, emulsification, and preventing asphaltene molecules from aggregation that all help more oil recovery. …”
