    Solubility characteristics of soil humic substances as a function of pH: mechanisms and biogeochemical perspectives by X. Yang, X. Yang, J. Zhang, K. M. G. Mostofa, K. M. G. Mostofa, M. Mohinuzzaman, M. Mohinuzzaman, H. H. Teng, H. H. Teng, N. Senesi, G. S. Senesi, J. Yuan, Y. Liu, Y. Liu, S.-L. Li, S.-L. Li, X. Li, X. Li, B. Wang, B. Wang, C.-Q. Liu, C.-Q. Liu

    Published 2025-04-01
“…The solubility of HA fractions increases with increasing pH, whereas their insolubility increases with decreasing pH, which determines their initial precipitation at pH 6 and final precipitation at pH 1, amounting approximately to 39.1 %–49.2 % and 3.1 %–24.1 % of the total dissolved organic matter (DOM), respectively, in the two soils. Elemental analysis results demonstrated that the C and N contents of HALS-pH 6 were lower and that those of O, S, and H were higher than those of HACS-pH 6, suggesting the preservation of C and N without S acquisition in HACS-pH 6, possibly because of their being complexed with minerals, which, in turn, would determine the insolubility of the HACS-pH 6 fraction. …”

The Effectiveness of a Topical Rosehip Oil Treatment on Facial Skin Characteristics: A Pilot Study on Wrinkles, UV Spots Reduction, Erythema Mitigation, and Age-Related Signs by Diana Patricia Oargă (Porumb), Mihaiela Cornea-Cipcigan, Silvia Amalia Nemeș, Mirela Irina Cordea

    Published 2025-06-01
“…Despite the growing interest in rosehip oil, limited studies have investigated its efficacy on human skin using advanced imaging technologies. This study aims to fill this gap by evaluating the efficacy of cold-pressed <i>Rosa canina</i> seed oil on facial skin characteristics, specifically wrinkles, ultraviolet (UV) spot reduction, and erythema mitigation, using imaging technologies (the VISIA analysis system). …”

Gray and white matter alterations in Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder: a data fusion machine learning approach by Lorenzo Arena, Wenceslao Peñate, Wenceslao Peñate, Francisco Rivero, Rosario J. Marrero, Rosario J. Marrero, Teresa Olivares, Alessandro Scarano, Ascensión Fumero, Ascensión Fumero, Alessandro Grecucci

    Published 2025-05-01
“…One intriguing hypothesis is that regions ascribed to the Default Mode Network are involved in OCPD, similar to what has been shown for OCD and other anxiety disorders.MethodsTo test this hypothesis, the gray and white matter images of 30 individuals diagnosed with OCPD (73% female, mean age=29.300), and 34 non-OCPD controls (82% female, mean age = 25.599) were analyzed for the first time with a data fusion unsupervised machine learning method known as Parallel Independent Component Analysis (pICA) to detect the joint contribution of these modalities to the OCPD diagnosis.ResultsResults indicated that two gray matter networks (GM-05 and GM-23) and one white matter network (WM-25) differed between the OCPD and the control group. …”
