The impact of nutritional intervention and resistance training on muscle strength and mass in healthy older adults—a comparative analysis by Yongye Ma, Ruixiang Yan, Yueming Li, Duanying Li, Xiaoning Sun, Tao Chen, Xingyu Liu

    Published 2025-08-01
“…Stata 18.0 was used to conduct network meta-analysis.ConclusionCompared with resistance training alone, protein supplementation combined with resistance training significantly enhanced muscle strength [Standardized Mean Difference (SMD) = 0.45, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.20,0.69; surface under the cumulative ranking curve (SUCRA) = 98.7%] and muscle mass [Mean Difference (MD) = 0.37, 95%CI: 0.04,0.70],whereas creatine supplementation demonstrated non-significant effects on muscle strength versus training alone (SMD = 0.03, 95% CI: −0.35,0.42) but yielded the most pronounced improvement in muscle mass (MD = 2.18, 95%CI: 0.92,3.44; SUCRA = 99.9%), outperforming both protein and β-hydroxy-β-methylbutyrate (HMB) interventions, with HMB supplementation critically failing to demonstrate significant benefits for muscle strength (SMD = −0.22, 95%CI: −0.57,0.12) or mass outcomes (MD = 0.05, 95%CI: −0.33,0.44).Systematic review registrationhttps://www.crd.york.ac.uk/PROSPERO/view/CRD420251026016.…”

Comparative Analysis of Mechanistic and Correlative Models for Global and Bhutan-Specific Suitability of Parthenium Weed and Vulnerability of Agriculture in Bhutan by Sangay Dorji, Stephen Stewart, Asad Shabbir, Ali Bajwa, Ammar Aziz, Steve Adkins

    Published 2024-12-01
“…Mechanistic and correlative species distribution models are commonly employed to determine the potential habitat suitability of parthenium weed. However, a comparative analysis of these two approaches for parthenium weed is lacking, leaving a gap in understanding their relative effectiveness and ability to describe habitat suitability of parthenium weed. …”

Comparative transcriptomic analysis and identification of candidate genes related to Verticillium wilt resistance in Gossypium barbadense and Gossypium hirsutum by Jieyin Zhao, Xingui Hu, Yuxiang Wang, Jiaxin Lu, Wenju Gao, Xuening Su, Quanjia Chen, Yanying Qu

    Published 2025-03-01
“…A total of 18,138 differentially expressed genes (DEGs), including 1470 transcription factors (TFs). Further analysis of the expression of hormone biosynthesis- and signal transduction-related genes revealed that most of the genes in the salicylic acid (SA), jasmonic acid (JA) and ethylene (ET) biosynthesis pathways were highly expressed in Hai7124; the expression of SA and JA biosynthesis genes began to be significantly upregulated in the early stage of Verticillium wilt stress, while the expression of ET biosynthesis genes was upregulated mainly in the later stage. …”
