Reducing syndemics of non-communicable chronic diseases in Mayan Indigenous population through community-based participatory research: a mixed-methods study protocol by Maarten M H Lahr, Erik Buskens, Adalberto Loyola-Sanchez, Ingris Peláez-Ballestas, Alfonso Gastelum Strozzi, Emilio Motte-García, Cinthya Cadena-Trejo, María Fernanda Ramírez-Flores, María Victoria Fernandez-Garcia, Karen G Castillo-Hernandez, Kenia Nayrobi López-Herrera

    Published 2025-08-01
“…We will follow four phases of the CBPR: (1) situational analysis, through community censuses and semistructured interviews to understand the prevalence of NCDs and the syndemics in these communities; (2) co-construction of the elements of a SCM based on the health priorities identified by researchers, community members and healthcare workers; (3) implementation of this SCM and (4) evaluation of the SCM through (1) statistical analyses involving the construction of a syndemic index through stepwise logistic regression of the normalised and standardised key clinical, social and economic variables; interval and ratio variables will be normalised by their z-score and categorical variables will be one-hot encoded; similarity and social networks analysis with clustering to identify syndemic subpopulations; and cost-effectiveness and cost-utility analyses using Markov modelling and (2) narrative and thematic qualitative analysis of the SCM’s implementation and impact on community members’ health, function and quality of life.Ethics and dissemination Research ethics boards of participant institutions approved this research protocol. …”

Rotor-System Log-Decrement Identification Using Short-Time Fourier-Transform Filter by Qihang Li, Weimin Wang, Lifang Chen, Dan Sun

    Published 2015-01-01
“…A finite element model was established to simulate the sine-swept process, and the simulated vibration signals were used to study the filtering effect and demonstrate the feasibility to identify the stability parameters by using Multiple-Input and Multiple-Output system identification method that combines the prediction error method and instrumental variable method. Simulation results show that the identification method with STFT filter improves the estimated accuracy much well and makes the curves of frequency response function clearer. …”

The Role of the Additive Manufacturing Process Parameters in the Shaping of the Surface Geometric Structure During Micro-Milling by Marta KRAWCZYK, Bartosz POWALKA, Marcin MATUSZAK, Sebastian FRYSKA, Dariusz GRZESIAK, Pawel FIGIEL

    Published 2020-06-01
“…The results showed a strong influence of SLM process parameters on the surface roughness, which, according to the authors, results from the significant variability of the mechanical properties of the material as a function of the volumetric density of energy supplied during melting.…”
