STUDY OF SUB-IMPACTS IN SIMPLY SUPPORTED BEAM STRUCK BY STEEL SPHERE
Published 2015-01-01“…And their impact durations vary randomly around the Hertz impact duration, but their variation in general are coincide with the Hertz impact duration;( 3) It shows that the complicated sub-impacts that look like random and sensitive to structural transient response are dominated by local impact-contact deformation, and their mechanism can be explained by the Hertz impact theory;( 4) The theoretical analysis has shown that the processes of the subsequence subimpacts are influenced greatly by the global structure vibrations,in turn affecting sphere motion and beam vibration response, and eventually leading to the next collision is difficult to predict.…”

Differential lipid dependence of the function of bacterial sodium channels.
Published 2013-01-01“…NavMs and NavSp showed strong preference for different negatively-charged lipids (phosphatidylinositol and phosphatidylglycerol, respectively), whilst NaChBac exhibited a more modest variation with lipid type. To investigate the molecular bases of these differences we used synchrotron radiation circular dichroism spectroscopy to compare structures in liposomes of different composition, and molecular modeling and electrostatics calculations to rationalize the functional differences seen. …”

Assessing Diabetes Self-Management with the Diabetes Self-Management Questionnaire (DSMQ) Can Help Analyse Behavioural Problems Related to Reduced Glycaemic Control.
Published 2016-01-01“…
Methods
248 patients with type 1 diabetes and 182 patients with type 2 diabetes were cross-sectionally assessed using the two self-report measures of diabetes self-management DSMQ and SDSCA; the scales were used as competing predictors of HbA1c. We developed a structural equation model of self-management as measured by the DSMQ and analysed the amount of variation explained in HbA1c; an analogue model was developed for the SDSCA.…”

A multi-scale comparison of polar vortices on Earth, Mars, Titan, and Venus
Published 2025-07-01“…Here, we demonstrate that: (1) The circulation characteristics of Mars above the 1 mbar level are very similar to those at 1000 mbar in the lower layers of Titan, with seasonal variations of the same height. (2) In contrast to the vortex structure that is stably maintained in the lead direction in the polar regions of Mars and Earth during the winter, the time of occurrence of the peak vortex intensity at Titan and Venus is gradually shifted forward with increasing altitude. (3) When Venus undergoes vortex instability drift, the polar vortex at an altitude of 1 mbar breaks up into banded structures, a phenomenon that closely resembles the twisting deformation of PV structures during weak stratospheric polar vortex events on Earth.…”
