Effects of Biochar on Soil Organic Carbon Stability in Degraded Alpine Grasslands—A Study on Arid Regions in Central Asia by Yunpeng Hu, Maidinuer Abulaizi, Yuxin Tian, Yang Hu, Mo Chen, Keyi Li, Yuanbin Jia, Tianle Kou, Jianqin Zhou, Hongtao Jia

    Published 2025-05-01
“…The addition of biochar decreased the stability of the soil carbon pools, but the stability of the soil carbon pools increased with time. The results of structural equation modeling (SEM) indicated that changes in biochar application and particle size would indirectly affect the stability of soil carbon pools by influencing soil and plant indicators, while changes in electrical conductivity (EC) were the key factors influencing the changes of soil carbon pools in degraded LD and SD grasslands. …”

Enhanced Luminescence and Thermal Stability in High Gd3+/Eu3+ Co-Doped Ba3Y4O9 Phosphors via Co-Precipitation Method by Dong Zhu, Chunfeng Wang, Xiaohuai Wang, Shun Han, Yuxiang Zeng, Ming Fang, Wenjun Liu, Deliang Zhu, Peijiang Cao, Youming Lu

    Published 2025-02-01
“…The co-precipitation method was successfully used to synthesize Ba3(Y0.6−xGd0.4Eux)4O9 (0.01 ≤ x ≤ 0.09) phosphors with heavy Gd3+ doping, resulting in significantly enhanced thermal stability and luminescence performance. Structural analyses confirm that Gd3+ and Eu3+ ions substitute Y3+ in the lattice, causing lattice expansion and improving crystal asymmetry, which enhances Eu3+ emission. …”

Ultrasound Pretreatment Prior to Hot Air Drying and Intermittent Microwave Drying of Apple Slices: Effect of Acoustic Density and Microwave Power by Fadime Begüm Tepe, Tolga Kağan Tepe

    Published 2025-06-01
“…Rehydration ratio was positively influenced by US pretreatment at lower temperatures but was adversely affected at higher temperatures and higher microwave power levels due to structural damage. Total phenolic content and antioxidant activity were preserved or enhanced by microwave drying, whereas US pretreatment showed no clear benefit and, in some cases, led to degradation, likely due to prolonged sonication and water immersion. …”
