Effects of plant invasions on wildlife in desert grasslands
Published 2013-09-01“…Although eradication is unlikely once a non‐native plant has naturalized, retaining patches of native vegetation within a matrix of non‐native plants may provide a strategy to reduce effects of plant invasions on wildlife in grasslands. © 2013 The Wildlife Society.…”

Tree seed dispersal modes affect forest resilience along savanna-forest boundaries
Published 2025-01-01“…The effects of global changes on tropical forests and savannas are manifested primarily at their boundaries. The dynamics at these forest-savanna boundaries depend on their shapes, which influence the spread of fires through the savanna landscape. …”

Quantifying the impact of urban blue-green spaces on humid-heat exposure risk: A case study of Nanjing’s central urban area
Published 2025-07-01“…The results indicated that high-risk humid-heat exposure areas were mainly concentrated in densely populated urban centers with fragmented UBGS; green spaces played a dominant role in regulating humid-heat exposure, with green area size being the most influential factor, while the regulatory effect of existing blue spaces was relatively limited; and the effectiveness of UBGS was significantly influenced by its spatial configuration, with complex-shaped and clustered green patches enhancing cooling efficiency. This study provides a novel perspective on the dynamics and driving mechanisms of urban UBGS and offers a scientific foundation for its future planning, conservation, and sustainable development.…”

Spatial entropy drives the maintenance and dissemination of transferable plasmids
Published 2025-04-01“…Here we establish a theoretical framework describing plasmid spread over a metacommunity of multiple patches. By analyzing the gene flow dynamics on randomly generated landscapes, we show that plasmid survival and dispersal are dictated by a simple feature of the landscape, spatial entropy. …”

Effects of forest structure and harvest‐induced edges on predation risk
Published 2018-06-01“…ABSTRACT Managed forest systems have implications for wildlife conservation because of their direct influence on condition and distribution of forest patches on the landscape. Spatial arrangement, structure, and composition of patches can influence reproductive outcomes for breeding birds by mediating nest site selection, survival, and predator–prey dynamics. …”
