Low-grade fly ash in portland cement blends: A decoupling approach to evaluate reactivity and hydration effects
Published 2024-12-01“…The results exhibit that the fly ash tends to retard the early-age hydration of cement but promotes its later-age hydration, resulting in a higher ultimate degree of reaction of cement than the reference paste. The microstructural and porosity evaluation shows that the fly ash, though has relatively low degrees of reaction due to its low glass content, can result in a more tortuous pore network of the hydrated pastes, which could be potentially more resistant to the penetration of water and aggressive chemicals.…”

A Novel Hyperspectral Microscope Imaging Technology for the Evaluation of Physicochemical Properties and Heterogeneity in ‘Xia Hui 6’ Peaches
Published 2025-06-01“…The physicochemical characteristics such as firmness (FI), soluble sugar content (SSC), and <i>L</i>* value of peaches showed significant changes, while the microstructure of the tissues broke down. Principal component analysis (PCA) was applied to peach tissues from the sunny side and shady side at different storage stages, which allowed us to clearly visualize the distribution of sugars, water, and pigments at the cellular scale. …”

Characterization of Ultrathin Layers in Perovskite/TOPCon Tandem Cells With Photoelectron Spectroscopy Utilizing Advanced Data Evaluation Methods
Published 2024-12-01“… Next generation solar cells like tunnel oxide passivated contacts (TOPCon) or perovskite/TOPCon tandem solar cells require efficient interface passivation by ultrathin organic or inorganic layers to uncover their true efficiency potential. Especially the microstructure and the Si suboxide content of the tunnel oxide in poly-Si(Ox)/SiO2/c-Si TOPCon stacks have been shown to have a tremendous influence on macroscopic device properties. …”

Evaluating sensitivity of optical snow grain size retrievals to radiative transfer models, shape parameters, and inversion techniques
Published 2025-08-01“…Variation in these factors causes tremendous uncertainty in <span class="inline-formula"><i>r</i>opt</span> retrievals, yet a thorough evaluation has yet to be conducted. To address this knowledge gap we conducted a laboratory bidirectional reflectance study, using NIR hyperspectral imaging (NIR-HSI) to retrieve grain size metrics for a wide variety of snow microstructures and evaluate them against micro-CT benchmarks. …”
