Good Brexit, Bad Brexit: Evaluation Through Metaphoric Conceptualizations in British Media
Published 2020-08-01“…However, as the present paper suggests, Rosch’s ‘levels’ in prototypology can be seen as functioning through conceptual metonymy. That, in its turn, combined with the all-pervasive cognitive mechanism of spreading activation (first introduced into linguistics by de Beaugrande and Dressler in 1981) suggests all semantic levels can be co-activated in the process of metaphorization, regardless of which level is currently being highlighted and drawn on. …”

An insulin-sensitive Drosophila insulin-like receptor mutant remodels methionine metabolism to extend lifespan.
Published 2025-06-01“…Type I and II mutants overlap in many pathways but also produce distinct transcriptomic profiles that include differences in innate immune and reproductive functions. In metabolomic analyses, the KID mutant dInr353 reprograms methionine metabolism in a way that phenocopies dietary methionine restriction, in contrast to canonical mutants which are characterized by upregulation of the transsulfuration pathway. …”

Identification of kidney renal clear cell carcinoma prognosis based on gene expression and clinical information
Published 2025-08-01“…A number of high-risk genes related to KIRC prognosis were screened out, and these genes were mainly involved in immune-related functions such as lymphocyte migration. At the same time, we combined TCGA and GEO to find four genes (BASP1, CCL8, FCGR1B, FKBP11) for determining the risk stratification of KIRC, and constructed a model for clinicians to assess KIRC prognosis based on gene expression and clinical information. qPCR confirmed that BASP1, FCGR1B, and FKBP11 were significantly upregulated in KIRC compared to adjacent normal tissues, whereas CCL8 showed no significant differential expression between KIRC and paracancerous tissues.ConclusionOur study has the potential to assist clinicians assess KIRC prognosis and modify more appropriate personalized treatment for KIRC patients in a timely manner.…”
