Pour une approche esthétique, technologique et procédurale de la fabrication des atmosphères : étude de Roma d’Alfonso Cuarón
Published 2024-12-01“…Atmosphere here derives not only from the precision of the reconstruction, but also from its articulation with the technologies adopted and the method of scripting and shooting the film. Drawing on Gernot Böhme’s seminal work Aesthetics of Atmospheres, and in particular his concept of “tuned space” and “ecstasy”, we show how atmosphere goes far beyond the question of sets, sound and visual ambience, and even goes beyond what is visible on screen: it stems from the articulation of the film’s spaces and the affects projected onto them. …”

Mental chronometry in big noisy data.
Published 2022-01-01“…Especially in larger scale studies using a multitude of individual EEG-based tasks, the quality of latency measures often suffers from high and low frequency noise residuals due to the resulting low trial counts (because of compressed tasks) and because of the limited feasibility of visual inspection of the large-scale data. In the present study, we systematically evaluated two different approaches to latency estimation (peak latencies and fractional area latencies) with respect to their data quality and the application of noise reduction by jackknifing methods. …”

Forensic Gait Study
Published 2022-10-01“…The article discusses the problems of forensic identification of a person by gait on video recordings. The author presents a brief review of the current state of domestic and foreign practice of expert identification of a person by gait, he also analyzes the basic provisions and methods of forensic identification of a person by signs of appearance from critical positions. He also reviews a set of gait parameters studied in biomechanics, considers the possibility of identifying these parameters on random video recordings and the capabilities of using the detected parameters as identification features. The basic principles of biometric gait identification have also been studied in the article; the description of the main gait models used in biometrics have been given.Based on the analysis of various identification features, a proposal has been put forward to develop a system of qualitative and quantitative gait signs, which will allow the use of both visual and instrumental methods of analysis for research; the choice of a particular method depends on the quality of the video recordings under study.…”
