Purifying selection shapes the dynamics of P-element invasion in Drosophila simulans populations by Anna M. Langmüller, Benjamin C. Haller, Viola Nolte, Christian Schlötterer

    Published 2025-07-01
“…Because the change in P-element copy number over time provides information about the transposition rate and the effect of purifying selection, we repeatedly sequence the experimental populations to study the P-element invasion dynamics. …”

Working towards Usable Forms on the Worldwide Web: Optimizing Multiple Selection Interface Elements by Javier A. Bargas-Avila, Olivia Brenzikofer, Alexandre N. Tuch, Sandra P. Roth, Klaus Opwis

    Published 2011-01-01
“…The time differences disappeared after several trials, revealing a learning effect for the list box element. As a conclusion, it can be recommended that website developers and online researchers should use checkboxes instead of list boxes for their online forms and questionnaires to enhance usability and user satisfaction—at least for a smaller number of options.…”

Quantitative Analysis of Sulfur Elements in Mars-like Rocks Based on Multimodal Data by Yuhang Dong, Zhengfeng Shi, Junsheng Yao, Li Zhang, Yongkang Chen, Junyan Jia

    Published 2025-07-01
“…As a non-contact technique with long-range detection capability, Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) is widely used for elemental identification on Mars. However, quantitative analysis of anionic elements using LIBS remains challenging due to the weak characteristic spectral lines of evaporite salt elements, such as sulfur, in LIBS spectra, which provide limited quantitative information. …”

Progress in electrocatalytic denitrification using element-doped materials by JIAO Mingshuo, XU Bincheng, LUO Zexi, CHENG Chen, WANG Ying*

    Published 2023-10-01
“…It is concluded that the rate-limiting step of electrocatalytic denitrification is the reduction of NO_3- to NO_2- and the key intermediate determining product selectivity is NO. On this basis, the element-doping method and its regulation effects on the catalytic active centers and the electrocatalytic denitrification pathways are summarized, and it is suggested that element doping is an effective method to improve the catalytic activity, product selectivity and long-term stability of electrode materials. …”

Numerical Study of the Effect of Furrows on Biosonar Beamforming in Aselliscus Stoliczkanus Bat by Weikai HE, Jianxiong FENG, Li GAO, Zhiwei ZHANG, Hongwang LU

    Published 2017-07-01
“…Using micro-tomography scanning technique, a 3D digital model of the noseleaf is reconstructed and biosonar beam pattern is analysed using a finite element method based on the 3D noseleaf model. The present research focuses on the conspicuous furrows in noseleaf, and our analysis allows to conclude the followings: a) structural details in noseleaf of Aselliscus Stoliczkanus bat can produce acoustic effects even if it is not adjacent to the nostrils, b) the furrows possess frequency-selective characteristics, c) the furrows have the function to manipulate the direction and width of the outgoing ultrasound wave.…”
