A process-synergistic active learning framework for high-strength Al-Si alloys design by Jianming Cai, Mengxia Han, Xirui Yan, Yan Chen, Daoxiu Li, Kai Zhao, Dongqing Zhang, Kaiqi Hu, Heng Han Sua, Hieng Kiat Jun, Kewei Xie, Guiliang Liu, Xiangfa Liu, Sida Liu

    Published 2025-07-01
“…Abstract High-strength Al-Si alloys are important lightweight materials, but their optimal design is hindered by scarce-imbalance data, and complex compositional-process-property relationships. Traditional trial-and-error experimentation fails to explore this multi-dimensional design space, where processing routes (PRs) and composition must be co-optimized to achieve superior strength. …”

Production of prototype lab-scale oak barrel analogues using additive manufacturing by Hugh Holds, Kerry Wilkinson, David Jeffery, Frances Jack, Sue Bastian

    Published 2025-01-01
“… Experiments involving the maturation of wine or spirits in oak barrels are economically challenging to undertake, especially when there is a need for extensive replication to account for the compositional variability of oak wood. Barrel maturation is also difficult to emulate at a laboratory scale due to the significant increase in surface-area to volume ratio when working with smaller barrel formats. …”

Production of macrozoobenthos in the estuaries of Primorye by Nickolay V. Kolpakov

    Published 2015-09-01
“…Mean annual P/B -ratio is 3.4, 1.1 and 0.4 for the polyhaline, mesohaline and oligohaline estuaries, respectively, that is conditioned by species composition of dominant taxonomic groups. Species composition of bivalve mollusks is the main factor of macrobenthic production variability: brackish clam Corbicula japonica with high biomass (up to 5 kg/m2) and low P/B -ratio (0.4-0.7, mean value ≈ 0.5) dominates in the mesohaline and oligohaline estuaries, while euryhaline marine bivalves as Macoma spp., Potamocorbula amurensis, Laternula marilina , and others dominate in the polyhaline estuaries though their biomass is relatively low (no more than 0.36 kg/m2), their P/B -ratio is 0.8-4.5. …”
