Predictor Importance for Hydrological Fluxes of Global Hydrological and Land Surface Models
Published 2024-09-01“…We analyzed the JULES, ORCHIDEE, HTESSEL, SURFEX, and PCR‐GLOBWB models for the relative importance of precipitation, climate, soil, land cover and topographic slope as predictors of simulated average evaporation, runoff, and surface and subsurface runoff. RF models functioned as a metamodel and could reproduce GHM/LSMs outputs with a coefficient of determination (R2) over 0.85 in all cases and often considerably better. …”

On Mixed Problems for Quasilinear Second-Order Systems
Published 2010-01-01“…The proof of the main theorem relies on two preliminary results: existence of the solution to mixed problems for linear second-order systems with smooth coefficients, and existence of the solution to initial-boundary value problems for linear second-order operators whose coefficients depend on the variables 𝑥 and 𝑡 through a function 𝑣∈𝐻𝑠(ℜ𝑑+1). …”

A New Legendre Collocation Method for Solving a Two-Dimensional Fractional Diffusion Equation
Published 2014-01-01“…A new spectral shifted Legendre Gauss-Lobatto collocation (SL-GL-C) method is developed and analyzed to solve a class of two-dimensional initial-boundary fractional diffusion equations with variable coefficients. The method depends basically on the fact that an expansion in a series of shifted Legendre polynomials PL,n(x)PL,m(y), for the function and its space-fractional derivatives occurring in the partial fractional differential equation (PFDE), is assumed; the expansion coefficients are then determined by reducing the PFDE with its boundary and initial conditions to a system of ordinary differential equations (SODEs) for these coefficients. …”
