Phytochemical Investigations and Pharmacological Potential of Organic Extracts of Calotropis gigantea L. Leaves
Published 2025-01-01“…The results of our investigation indicate that the organic fractions exhibited reduced hemolytic activity, suggesting an enhanced medicinal potential and decreased toxicity of C. gigantea extracts. Based on the current results, it can be inferred that extracts derived from C. gigantea have diverse potential and urge further investigation as a possible reservoir of metabolites, antioxidants, and antibacterial compounds. …”

Post-pandemic patient safety: have the characteristics of incidents with harm changed? Comparative observational study in primary care via review of medical records with a trigger...
Published 2024-11-01“…Conclusions No differences were found in the avoidability, severity, place of occurrence, or contributory factors of PSIHs before the pandemic and currently. In terms of the nature of these incidents, the outcomes revealed an increase in diagnostic errors (excluding diagnostic tests), which could be attributed to a greater frequency of remote consultations and a decrease in the longitudinality of care resulting from the shortage of professionals.…”

Wastewater-Based Epidemiology (WBE): Potential Application for Assessing the Use of Conventional and New Generation Tobacco and Nicotine Products
Published 2025-05-01“…In a few studies, the minor tobacco alkaloid anabasine (AB) was measured in WW samples as a specific indicator for tobacco-containing products. The currently available results imply that AB in WW is decreasing faster over time than cotinine in WW does, suggesting that the use of tobacco products (mainly combustible cigarettes, CCs) is gradually replaced by tobacco-free nicotine products such as NRT products, ECs and others.…”

Antibiotic pretreatment inhibits white band disease infection by suppressing the bacterial pathobiome
Published 2025-02-01“…We found the prophylactic use of antibiotics led to significantly reduced infection rates in disease exposed corals with a 30-percentage point decrease in the infection rate. Analyses of 16S rRNA amplicon gene sequencing data in the disease exposed corals demonstrated that antibiotic pretreatment resulted in coral microbiomes which were less speciose and contained relatively fewer Vibrio spp. than untreated corals, indicating that the benefit of the antibiotic pretreatment was its ability to reduce the relative abundance of intrinsic secondary opportunists and/or opportunistic pathogens suggesting their likely importance to the etiology of WBD. …”
