Τhe Political Economy of Green Transition: The Need for a Two-Pronged Approach to Address Climate Change and the Necessity of “Science Citizens”
Published 2025-01-01“…The principal results and findings offer interpretations and insights while encouraging further discussion on transitioning to a sustainable science society. In this context, the analysis results elucidate that there is evidence for an increased policy emphasis on technology development (economy-based approaches) rather than on technology diffusion and assessment, and/or the integration of key small-scale actors, such as citizens. …”

The Anthropocene is shifting the paradigm of geosciences and science
Published 2022-12-01“…Noting that humans are affecting the Earth’s envelopes, with geosciences becoming inseparable from social sciences and humanities, and acknowledging the increasing use of the word Anthropocene, the authors of this paper explore the possibility of a scientific paradigm shift. (1) Since the 17th century, modern science has developed in a context of naturalist worlding that favors its hegemony over other modes of existence and its paradigm of a quest to define the laws of nature. (2) Various manifestations attest to the emergence of a paradigm of knowledge diversity and the unravelling of the naturalist worlding. (3) The current boom in participatory science is a sign of this paradigm shift: through the fundamental changes to the Earth System that refer to it, the Anthropocene forces science to move towards action and interact with a society involved in adapting to changes and concerned with the threats to its territory’s habitability.…”

An Innovation Machine Learning Approach for Ship Fuel-Consumption Prediction Under Climate-Change Scenarios and IMO Standards
Published 2025-04-01“…A sensitivity analysis identified vessel speed as the most critical factor, contributing 33% to the variance in fuel consumption, followed by engine power and current speed. Climate-change simulations showed that fuel consumption increases by an average of 22% for bulk carriers and 19% for container ships, highlighting the importance of operational optimizations. …”

Blood-based biomarkers in mild behavioral impairment: an updated overview
Published 2025-02-01“…A growing number of studies have recently begun to explore the relationship between MBI and several blood-based biomarkers associated with Alzheimer’s disease (AD) pathology, neurodegeneration, as well as systemic metabolic and inflammatory dysregulation. In this context, MBI has been associated with lower plasma Aβ42/Αβ40 ratio, higher plasma phosphorylated tau at threonine 181 (p-tau181), increased neurofilament light chain (NfL) levels, as well as disturbances in metabolic markers, including homocysteine, insulin and ferritin, suggesting a multifaceted neurobiological basis for this syndrome. …”
