Revolutionizing brain‒computer interfaces: overcoming biocompatibility challenges in implantable neural interfaces
Published 2025-07-01“…Despite significant advancements over the years, conventional neural electrode interfaces remain insufficient for fully achieving these objectives, particularly in the context of long-term implantation. The primary limitation stems from the poor biocompatibility and mechanical mismatch between the interfacing electrodes and neural tissues, which induce a local immune response and scar tissue formation, thus decreasing the performance and useful lifespan. …”

Kavalactones support motivation to move during intensive training in males preparing for military special operations forces
Published 2024-12-01“…Furthermore, the group taking kavalactones first never experienced a significant decrease in Move motivation state (lowest mean score 21.0, highest 28.6, all p ≥ 0.05), while the group receiving kavalactones in the last 2 weeks of the study had Move scores that were statistically lower than baseline (lowest mean score 8.6, highest 25.9, all p ≤ 0.05) at all time points but the last (p = 0.063) after 2 weeks of kavalactones exposure. Conclusions We report a novel finding that kavalactones may support performance by maintaining or rescuing the desire to expend energy in the context of significant physical and mental strain in well-conditioned individuals, even in a context of already normal cortisol, sleep, and mood.…”

Women’s health and maternal care services: seizing missed opportunities to prevent and manage preterm birth
Published 2025-06-01“…Achieving this and integrating these service packages into universal health coverage strategies requires collaboration across government leaders, civil society members, private sector actors, and development partners. Increasing coverage of antenatal care, institutional delivery, and postnatal care represents an opportunity to improve the quality of care provided during those service contacts including through the provision of interventions that address modifiable risk factors for preterm birth such as prevention and treatment of infections, poor nutritional status, and substance use. …”
