The impact of different exercise modalities on chronic kidney disease: an umbrella review of meta-analyses
Published 2025-01-01“…We evaluated the methodological quality of included studies by AMSTAR2 tool and by individually evaluating the heterogeneity, sample power, and statistical significances from meta-analyses.ResultsWe included 44 meta-analyses, encompassing 35,432 CKD patients in pre-dialysis and dialysis stages (peritoneal and hemodialysis). Data from meta-analyses with highly suggestive or strong evidence grading suggests that aerobic and combined training were most effective in improving cardiorespiratory fitness (main effect: 2.1, 95% CI: 0.8–3.4, and main effect: 3.4; 95% CI: 2.4–4.6, respectively). …”

NF-κB-Inducing Kinase Is Essential for Effective c-Rel Transactivation and Binding to the <i>Il12b</i> Promoter in Macrophages
Published 2025-01-01“…This study investigates the role of NIK in activating specific inflammatory genes in macrophages, focusing on the effect of a mutation in NIK found in alymphoplasia (<i>aly</i>/<i>aly</i>) mice. Mouse peritoneal macrophages from <i>aly</i>/<i>aly</i> mice showed a severe defect in the production of some pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as IL-12. …”

Bothrops asper snake venom and its metalloproteinase BaP–1 activate the complement system. Role in leucocyte recruitment
Published 2000-01-01“…The importance of complement activation by the venom on neutrophil migration was investigated in vivo by injecting the venom into the peritoneal cavity of C5-deficient mice. Data obtained demonstrated that serum incubated with crude venom and its purified metalloproteinase BaP–1 are able to induce rat neutrophil chemotaxis, probably mediated by agent(s) derived from the complement system. …”
